Under the direction of the Army Corp of Engineers and partnering with Parsons, I conducted a site assessment to identify active nests for larger raptors including red-tailed hawk and golden eagle, to determine nesting status and locations within the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) known as Carrington Island located within the Great Salt Lake near Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of the project is to identify and remove unexploded ordinance that may occur on the island before it can be released to the Bureau of Land Management.
Following the initiation of the Migratory Bird Breeding Season, I conducted biological monitoring with the unexploded ordinance salvage crew while they mapped out potential unexploded ordinance that occurs throughout the island.
